T C Henderson Elementary Grade 5

T C Henderson Elementary students were very concerned that some Transylvania County families might go hungry during the Christmas holiday season. Together these wonderful children collected a large amount of food for Sharing House to give to those in need.

Rosman Elementary Grades 1 & 2

Rosman Elementary students collected food items for Sharing House from their local community. Sharing House assists on average about 8 families each day with food.

Sharing House Financial Administrator

Harold Carr is working hard to keep the Sharing House in good financial order. Over 90% of all donations to Sharing House are used in programs & services which provide food, clothing, & housing related assistance to appproximately 1,200 families each year.

Sharing House Diners' Extravaganza

Brevard Mayor Jimmy Harris assists Linda McCready (Executive Director) & Bob O'Neill (Board Member) to draw the winning tickets for the annual Diners' Extravaganza. 7 lucky winners received a $100 gift certificate to top area restaurants: Hob Nob, Falls Landing, Maple, Square Root, Jason's Main Street Grill, Jordan Street Cafe & the Womble Inn.

Back-to-School Program

Sharing House volunteers, Eunice James & Betty Boyd, prepare donated school supplies for our annual Back-to-School Program. Sharing House typically serves over 100 low-income families & over 200 children each year with greatly needed school supplies i.e. Backpacks, calculators, binders, notebooks, pens, etc.

Mercy Seat Receives Women for Women Grant

Linda McCready receives the Women for Women Grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina on behalf of Transylvania Christian Ministry & Mercy Seat. The grant of $73,623 was awarded for over two years to create a new transitional housing program for homeless women and their children.

The Mercy Seat house is a wonderful facility that houses women & children (10 individuals). It is conveniently located in a quiet part of Brevard at 109 Duckworth Avenue, Brevard NC 28712.
